25 people are recognized as victims of torture cases using a hot steam iron during the investigation of the January events in the Almaty region.The speaker from the General Prosecutor’s Office Serik Shalabaev stated this at a briefing in the central communications service.
“All applicants described a similar way to use torture,” said the representative of the Prosecutor General.
According to him, in these cases, special prosecutors established the involvement of five police officers.Three of them found guilt, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
The department added that for eight most resonant cases in cases of suspects, 15 employees of special and law enforcement agencies were recognized.Of these, nine - they are detained.
The Prosecutor General’s Office also reported the completion of investigative actions against two employees of the KNB Department of the Almaty region.They are suspected of applying a beating for a detained person who entailed his death.
Thousands of people underwent detentions in connection with January events in Kazakhstan, hundreds were detained as suspects in terrorism, riots, theft of weapons and other crimes.Many arrested announced torture and bullying by the security forces.Against the background of the stream of complaints of the authorities of Kazakhstan, they stated that more than 200 cases of “inappropriate methods of investigation.”
