Zhanbolat Zholdasbay

Civil activist Zholdasbay Zhanbolat born in 1975, went to a peaceful rally in the city of Aktobe to support Zhanaozen residents and received a gunshot wound to the right shoulder on January 7, 2022.

When he fell to the ground, special forces officers twisted his arms and handcuffed him. Then he was taken to the police station and beaten there, after which he was taken by ambulance to the BSMP hospital.

There, after the operation, three days later, even without official discharge by doctors, he was taken to the police department and an administrative case was opened against him for going to a peaceful rally.

Zhanbolat was illegally charged with 10 days of administrative arrest. In the temporary detention center, he was not provided with medical assistance and his wound has not yet healed. Zhanbolat is now being treated at home, he has not been working for 2 months for health reasons, and his medical insurance has been canceled.

According to Zhanbolat, when the people were standing in front of the akimat of #Aktobe two armed personnel carriers arrived through Abay Avenue and began to shoot from both sides without warning. People fled in different directions.

At the hospital, Zhanbolat was not shown the bullet that was removed from his shoulder. Police officers not only beat him, but also robbed him, took all the cash that Zhanbolat carried in his purse.
