Sayat Adilbekuly

On January 5, 2022, a resident of Almaty, Sayat Adilbekuly, left the house to buy medicines for his daughter, who had a high fever. At this point, he was injured by a shot to the right lumbar region. On the same day, he went to the hospital and underwent surgery. On January 8, armed special forces broke into Hospital No. 7 and beat them naked and half-naked in serious conditions, bringing the wounded, including Sayat, to the street. Sayat and the other wounded were taken to SIZO 18, where they were greeted with “Welcome, bitches!” Torture in the detention center against him continued (read more about torture on screenshots).

After the operation, Sayat had a catheter sticking out of his body, which was pulled right in the jail cell in unsanitary conditions, without painkillers and anesthesia. The hole from the catheter was not sewn up; it remained open and bleeding. He was released from jail on January 25 thanks to public support, but the criminal case against him has not yet been closed. A politically motivated criminal case is being fabricated against Sayat for allegedly “participating in mass riots” on January 6. On January 5, he was wounded and on January 6 was in the hospital, which is confirmed by documents from the hospital.

On February 6, 2022, Sayat filed a complaint with the Almaty City Prosecutor with a request to open a criminal case on the fact of torture and to bring to justice all investigators of the investigation team in the case (No. 227 5000 31 000019), including prosecutor Bekitaev M.G., deputy prosecutor of Almaty Auganbaev N.Zh., head of SI-18 Dzhumadiev A.S., employees of SI-18 (for organizing intolerable conditions), employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Committee (for torture and beatings)
