Zeynep Tleuliyeva and Kamaradin Khasanov testified. Their son, Nuraly Khasanov, born in 1992, was detained at his workplace on January 13, 2022. According to them, Nuraly participated in a peaceful protest, and there he and others were threatened and forced to take up arms. Weapons were distributed at the rally by unknown people. When Nuraly wanted to return the weapon, he was detained. According to the parents, Nuraly suffers from mental illness and has previously undergone treatment. After his arrest, his parents are not allowed to see him.Nuraly  is accused of theft and illegal possession of weapons. At the moment, he is in jail.

“My name is Tleuliyeva Zeynep. I am a resident of the Bayzak district, Zhambyl region. My son’s name is Khasanov Nuraly; he was born in 1992.

On January 13, 2022, my son was arrested at his workplace. After the arrest, we could not find him for five days. We asked our police department, but they didn’t know where he was. Five days after his arrest, we were able to find out that he was in a pre-trial detention facility.

He is charged with theft and illegal possession of weapons. My son has never had a gun before. He was at the rally. Someone handed out weapons to people there.

– They say that weapons were handed out at the rally. Is this true?

– Yes, weapons were distributed there; my son and others were intimidated; they did not know what to do and took those weapons. They were all going to return weapons, but they were all detained at that moment. I could not get a meeting with him all this time; only yesterday, I was able to see him. I ask you to help exonerate my son. He is not to blame for anything.

– Our son has a mental disorder. He had been in the hospital before.
