Kairat Niyazbayev, was killed by a bullet on January 5, 2022 in Almaty.

His widow, Aigerim Niyazbayeva: “On January 5, I sent him to the store, but he never returned. On the 6th I found his corpse in the morgue. My husband didn’t go to rallies. He was an ordinary citizen, working and paying taxes. He earned well and never asked for help from the state.

Everywhere I go, people ask me if he was in the military. After a negative answer, they look at me as if he was a terrorist and guilty of pogroms. And of course, after that, my documents are not considered. I don’t know what to say to my sons.

Kairat worked at a beverage factory. He comes from a very simple and decent family. He was a loving father, a caring husband, a polite, supportive and warm person. He never wished harm on anyone. He was honest.

He thought only about his family and sons. He brought everything he earned home. He always gave us time and fulfilled our wishes. He loved his sons madly, he brought and took them to the kindergarten. He bathed them himself, took care of the chores, because I was pregnant.

I once told him: “Honey, despite the fact that I have my own children, I still want to adopt someone from an orphanage.” To this, he promised that he would build a house first. He was optimistic, wanting to start building a house in the spring.

We dreamed of seeing how our children grew up, dreamed of traveling, of a home, dreamed of growing old together. He hoped that in the future the country will have: a lot of grants for students, free medicine, there will be no inflated prices, there will be no orphanages, nursing homes. My dear, you became a father for the third time. I am now a mother of three. I love you and miss you very much.”

Aigerim is a teacher by profession, now on maternity leave. Alone brings up three children, the eldest is 5 years old, the middle is 3 years old, and the youngest is not even a month old. The family lives in a rented apartment. Now they have a difficult financial situation.
