In Taraz, during the events of “bloody January”, 17-year-old Andrei Opushiev died of a gunshot wound. He was found with many fractures. Relatives of the guy seek an objective investigation into the circumstances of his death.

On the afternoon of January 6, Andrei Opushiev left for work, informing his household that he would return by 7 p.m.. But he never returned home that day. The next morning, the family became worried and began calling his friends. Then one of the guy’s acquaintances said that the day before they had been together at a rally, and advised to look for Andrei either in the hospital or in the morgue.

“He wasn’t in hospitals. We’ve been to the morgue several times and we’ve been told they have “only Asians.” They said that later they would bring more corpses and, possibly, my husband would be among them. By 7 p.m. on January 7, we arrived at the morgue again,. I was shown a photo of my husband, I recognized him and burst into tears. Andrei’s corpse was then carried out. His entire face was beaten, his ribs broken, his right leg was broken, his right arm had a dislocated finger, his neck all blue. He was shot in the heart, a bullet in the face. The morgue wanted to write that he died from a stab wound, not from a gunshot. Mom and dad began to swear at them, and only after that it was recorded as a gunshot,” said Andrei’s 16-year-old wife Valentina Opushieva.

Andrey and Valentina got married on December 7. According to the girl, she did not know that her husband was going to a rally. Relatives believe that the guy only wanted to see what was happening.

“He was interested, he was curious. I don’t want my husband to be labeled a terrorist. He is only 17 years old, he was a very good person,” Opushieva said.

Now law enforcement agencies are investigating under what circumstances the young man died, but so far they cannot find his belongings. Relatives were given the body in only underwear.

“The guy who was with Andrei at the rally says that the military started shooting. Then the military left, but another car arrived with people who were also in military clothes and began to shoot everyone. People were beaten. I asked how he managed to escape. He says he fainted behind a tree and was taken away by people. According to him, by this time Andrei was already lying on the ground. This happened in the central square on Tole Bi Street,” said the wife of the deceased.

Now the relatives of Andrei Opushiev are seeking a comprehensive and objective investigation into the circumstances of his death.
